Blueberry season is usually from the last week of April until the end of May, it changes slightly each year.
Yes, we have U-Pick Strawberries, but the harvest is not as certain, if you specifically want to pick strawberries on your visit, sign up below to be put on our mailing list of when the strawberries are ready for picking.
In Blueberry season we are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am until 1:00pm and on Saturdays from 9:00am until 5:00pm. We can't pick every day in order to give our berries time to ripen between pickings. But our Events Center is open all year round for, festivals, movie nights, concerts and live music. We supply small buckets with plastic grocery style bags inside for each guest that wants to pick. Each bucket can hold around 5 to 6 pounds of blueberries. You can pick as much or as little as you want and when you are finished you return the bucket to the Country Store, where your blueberries will be weighed. You just pay by the pound for what you picked! You can then transport your berries home in the plastic bags we supply. You get about 90 minutes of picking time.
We are not certified as an organic farm and cannot claim that we are organic, but we do not spray any pesticides on your berries and they have all been naturally grown.
Wear the right clothes, bring a hat and sturdy shoes! Check the weather and make sure you are dressed appropriately as the Florida sun can get hot or it can rain very quickly.
Bring sun block, insect repellent, and keep hydrated, we have restrooms at the Country Store.
You will be bending over while picking and the bushes have thorns, and there will be bees around and possibly some bugs amongst the bushes, some people like to bring gloves.
If you would like to bring your own food and have a picnic at our farm please feel free to do so. We have a few picnic tables and chairs available to our guests, and a playground for the children.
Most Important is to have fun, there's lots to do with fishing, petting zoo, movie nights and live music.
Wash your berries well when you get home. Wash and sanitize your hands after picking berries or petting the animals.
We are a smoke and alcohol free environment, and we supply the music, so if you want to listen to your own, bring your ear buds.
Yes! Freezing blueberries is as simple as picking them. Take them home and drop them in the freezer. Resist the temptation to to rinse them before freezing, wait until you take them out to give them a rinse. That way they will keep for about 10 months, just about about the time to come and pick some more!
We are a family that loves animals of all kinds but due to USDA regulations we are not allowed to have them at the farm during the season, other than Lumpy, our farm dog, that keeps the foxes away from the deer and chickens.
We strongly discourage eating the berries before they have been washed, but a lot of people do sample them while they are picking, if you do sample before you wash then that's at your risk, and please don't try and get an extra pound of berries that way, we do weigh people too!
Of course, we call that We-Pick, just call into the Country Store and buy them by the pound.
Please plan to arrive no more than fifteen minutes before your reservation time, that should be enough time to park and register, and is respectful of our other guests that may just be leaving.
There is plenty of parking and attendants to help you park, but the parking is on grassed areas, and a little more uneven than a regular parking lot, so please drive very slowly while parking, and be mindful of children running around.
We have Square, as a payments processor, so can take most forms of electronic payment, and cash, but we do not accept personal checks.
